Daughter of Ruy de Moura Guedes e Maria Margarida de Moura Guedes, Guta has two sons, Rui Maria (1991) and  Manuel (1995) and two granddaughters, Alice (2021) and Olivia (2024).

Guta develops her profissional career with the main objective of reinforcing the importance of culture as a pillar of a sustainable and egalitarian society, as an indispensable factor for human development.

She is a curator, strategic designer, and cultural leader with a career spanning over 25 years in design, architecture, and creative strategy. In 1998, she co-founded Experimenta, a pioneering cultural non-profit in Lisbon, and has served as its Chairwoman since 2000. As co-author and Director of the Lisbon biennale experimentadesign (1999–2017), she played a key role in shaping Portugal’s design landscape.

Deeply embedded in the international design community since the early ’90s, she has been a curator, creative director, strategist, and critical thinker, integrating high-profile international committees and juries. She develops and curates exhibition projects in design and architecture, while also working as a consultant, lecturer, and speaker in Portugal and abroad.

Beyond her curatorial work, she was Director of Fundação Casa da Música and was appointed Administrator of the Fundação Centro Cultural de Belém CCB – Portugal’s leading cultural institution – by the Portuguese Government.

Her impact on the global cultural landscape has been recognized through prestigious honors, including the Ordre de Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (France, 2005) and the Cavalieri al Merito della Repubblica Italiana, da Ordine Della Stella D’Italia (Italy, 2023).

A polymath with a diverse academic background, she studied Piano, Biology, Cobol 74, Hotel Management, and Design.
